As part of National Volunteer Week 2026, community leaders, volunteers, community development workers, and active citizens came together Friday May 22 for the launch of The Community Builder’s Journal, introduced by two of the authors, Peter Westoby and Rachael Donovan (from Community Praxis Co-op).
The event was hosted by Hot House Living Lab and Maribyrnong City Council.
It proved a beautiful morning of conversation, reflection and joyful connection, and another chance for us to gather in Footscray.
There’s some exciting news about a development that arose from the event – a Community Builder’s Book Club. Borderlands has offered space at the red brick hall on Pickett St, otherwise known as ‘The People’s Place’ so the Book Club can gather.
You need to register to attend. See below.
First meeting: Monday 22 June @ 6.30pm – 8.00pm (and then the 4th Monday of every month till Nov 2026)
The People’s Place (Borderlands Coop) 32A Pickett St Footscray.
