Borderlands Strategic Review

·

Borderlands is engaging in a strategic review …

Borderlands was established in 1997: that’s a long time to be part of change-making and surviving decades of neoliberal destruction of socio-economic and cultural infrastructure.

The time has come for Borderlands to step into a new phase, in a new time, where the urgency of social and environmental justice could not be more stark nor the necessity of regenerating community solidarity and action more pressing.

Borderlands is committed to moving forward with renewed energy — building partnerships, amplifying marginalised voices, and ensuring that we continue to be a place where democratic practice and collective imagination thrive.

To guide this transition, the Borderlands Board of Directors has established a Strategic Review, tasked with exploring and assessing:

  • How Borderlands can better situate itself and work with local communities and organisations to build capacity and linkages;
  • How Borderlands can organise itself to ensure sustainability as an organisation.

The Review will produce a set of recommendations for the future direction of Borderlands, with clear options for program priorities and organisational sustainability. Findings will be reported publicly, ensuring transparency and accountability to the communities we work with.

This review will take place in the first half of 2026, and will involve wide ranging consultation. Borderlands is keen to get input from all organisations and individuals interested in how we continue to fight for social and environmental justice.

We encourage you to contact Terri Soumilas (Borderlands Board) if you would like to share your thoughts with us about Borderlands’ ongoing work and future.
